Writing the privacy and civil liberties policy is not the final step in the policy
development process. The Privacy and Civil Liberties Policy Development
Guide and Implementation Templates provides suggestions on the additional steps that
may need to be taken upon completion of the policy. These include suggestions
on formal adoption of the policy, such as whether an appropriate governing
body should formally adopt the policy; tips on publication distribution
and who the policy should be readily available to; and recommendations
on a formal outreach approach. Additionally, the Guide discusses the potential
need within a justice agency to provide training on the policy for those
involved, as well as suggestions for evaluating and monitoring
its implementation.
