Web Site Link:

A Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI) is ordered by the courts when there has been a plea or verdict of guilty. In most cases the PSI is prepared by a probation officer. Once complete, the PSI is provided to the prosecution, defense and the sentencing judge. The content of the PSI includes information about the current offense and victims of that offense. It also includes a very in depth background of the defendant with information on such things as criminal history, employment, residence(s), education, health, military experience, etc. Also included are recommendations and assessents made by the probation officer.
