Charge Document NIEM 2_0

Web Site Link:

A Charge Document is also known as a Charge Filing, a Fingerprint Card, or a Referral. Although there are significant state, local, and tribal variations, the typical process is for a prosecutor or law enforcement agency to submit to the appropriate court the formal criminal charges against a specific subject (a/k/a defendant). Other justice stakeholders may also receive notification of the charges, depending upon the nature of the filing agency, the nature of the allegations, whether the subject must be booked, and other factors. The scope includes both the original Charge Document and any subsequent amendments.
