Inter-RF Subsystem Interface Overview [TSB 102.BACC]

This TSB (Telecommunications Systems Bulletin) provides an overview of the essential attributes of the Inter-RF SubSystem Interface (ISSI) to support Land Mobile Radio (LMR) communication systems that are configured to include more than a single RF Subsystem (RFSS). The ISSI also provides an interface, using industry standard protocols, that allows interoperability between communication systems using a common protocol but different technologies, different manufacturers, or different RF bands. The protocol and message structure, mobility management, wide area service management, and intervening network adaptation are all elements of the ISSI definition and specification. This document provides an overview of the protocol, mobility, and data management, service support, voice, security, and interconnectivity as applied to the Inter-RF SubSystem Interface. These definitions are necessary to ensure interoperability of radio units.
