Publishing Requirements for Industry Standard Metadata (PRISM)

This document defines a standard for interoperable content description, interchange, and reuse in both traditional and electronic publishing contexts. PRISM recommends the use of certain existing standards, such as XML, RDF, & various ISO specs for locations, languages, and date/time formats. Beyond this, it defines a few XML namespaces and controlled vocabularies of values, in order to meet the goals of interchange of electronic publishing contexts. This standardized set of requirements for industry standard metadata can assist in expediting data transfer across various platforms and media.
Other Standards: This "Last Call Draft" differs from earlier drafts by making use of additional XML concepts, such as namespaces.
